Don’t know exactly what you want?
I’m more than happy to help you assess and identify health goals and provide an overview of available options and resources.
What I don’t do
I cannot diagnose, treat, or cure any illness or disease. I can support you in finding more strategies to complete unpleasant tasks, focus on difficult subjects, or practice emotional regulation, but I cannot treat ADHD.
Background info on me
Herbalism for me has always been an act of liberation, resistance and self-love. As a survivor of childhood medical neglect and later psychiatric abuse, I was drawn to herbalism as a means of doing for myself what authority figures in my life failed to. I got my start in anarchist care work by joining a street medic collective in 2019, and shortly thereafter starting an herb distro for the group’s community clinics. I began doing one-on-one consultations when community members starting seeking me out for advice, and have been offering them on and off since as my situation allows. I’m extremely passionate about helping others find their own paths to claiming bodily autonomy and about supporting mad and disabled people in living more comfortable lives.
The traditions of street medics and grassroots harm reduction heavily influence me. I am inspired by and honored to contribute to movements that emphasize taking medical knowledge for ourselves by resisting gatekeeping, medical paternalism, and patents.
I identify as mad/insane, I use a mobility aid, and I have a neurological condition that results in tics and seizures. I live in community with a lot of wonderful disabled and mad anti-social dropouts and we spend a lot of our time working together to expand our collective health knowledge and capabilities.
Herbalism (and ecology) are about 85% of my personality but when I’m not reading, writing or thinking about plants, I’m usually doing fibercrafts.
What to expect
Initial consultation sessions take between 30 minutes to an hour and can be over text or phone call. I will ask you general and specific questions about what you are looking for and your current situation, including your physical and emotional experience and potentially your history, lifestyle, or environment, if relevant. You are free to refuse to answer any question for any reason. I will then offer as much information as I can about herbs, practices and resources that you might find useful, and we’ll talk about how to implement any suggestions you’re interested in. I may also offer to do research or consult with other herbalists if it seems like finding initial information would be helpful.
Usually I will send a followup packet after consultations with a summary and any resources or information mentioned in the consultation; plus any additional research or resources I’ve sought out after the session.
During sessions, I take notes with pen and paper to help organize my own thoughts and keep track of what to include in the followup. I destroy these notes after sending the followup.
I am happy to offer followup sessions to discuss adjusting herbal protocols, learning herbal skills, and/or tracking, modifying and exploring health goals.
All information shared with me is kept strictly confidential.
Sliding scale
The recommended donation for consultations is $40-$80. Higher donations are welcome (and increase my capacity to support people with less resource access!) and lower donations are OK too.
Donations can be made via ko-fi or cashapp.
Rescheduling and cancellations
Due to my own disabilities, these sessions require preparation and careful planning of my day. I ask that clients please be respectful of my time and notify me if they are running late to sessions and avoid last-minute cancellations whenever possible—although I understand that things do happen. Clients running more than 15 minutes late might have to reschedule for another day.
Booking a session
If you would like to book a session, please fill out the interest form and I will contact you within a week or two (probably sooner!). Your responses to this form will not be shared with anyone.
